We’ve all heard that men don’t typically like to shop, but we believe if you make a place relaxing and painless, then they will want to come to see you. The interior of our store was planned by a well-known designer who specializes in contemporary stores all over the country, yet maintains a warm and inviting atmosphere. When people come into our store we have an area where they can sit down, watch whatever sporting event is on TV, have a something to drink as they look through some new merchandise or view fabric swatches for a suit.
Several comments are “Where have you been?” and “I’m so glad you’re here” from our customers. Having been starved for this kind of personal attention, they now recognize how much they need and enjoy our distinct services.
I grew up in Bogalusa, LA, where my family had Rosenblum’s Department Store for over 50 years, so I came from a retail background. After college in 1977, I moved back to the area and got more involved in the business, but I never really got a chance to have the kind of merchandise at the store that I wanted to carry.
Over the years, I started considering Mandeville as a place where a men’s fine clothing store might be successful. About seven years ago I moved my family to Mandeville and in the subsequent years, my wife and I took the opportunity to network with the community. We found that there was a need for a store that spoke to the lifestyle here and offered real, old-fashioned customer service.
I’ve never really felt so fulfilled as I have since opening this store. I’m finally able to sell the kind of merchandise that I have longed for and my customers actually appreciate what I’m doing – they’re just as excited as I am. When I managed the family store in Bogalusa, that was my family’s legacy and that was important to me. But this store in Mandeville is my baby; it’s my dream and my legacy.
